Jean Wedin parties on her 93rd year birthday

Another year begins in the sweet, joyous life of one of jolly old England's finest exports, Jean Wedin.

Jeannie celebrated her (I get confused) 39th or 93rd birthday. It's hard to tell because of her incredible energy for life.

An affair to remember was held at the Oyster & Thistle Friday evening, Feb. 2. An astonishing 24 guests attended to celebrate Jeannie, and celebrate we did.

The "Crooner-Carver" from the Swinomish nation, Kevin Paul, was there to sing a Native serenade to celebrate her birthday. Each guest was given the opportunity to recite anecdotal tales of their various experiences with Jeannie. There were some funny stories as well as some very touching, including Jeannie's stepson, Dan Wedin, who spoke lovingly about Jeannie's entrance into his and his family's lives.

Typical Jeannie, with assistance of her henchwoman-companion and stalwart helper, Joyce Welch, as well as Jackie. The planning details were incredible: Coordinated invitations, table assignment cards, napkins and party favors.

Jeannie's parties are such that you are forbidden to bring her a gift, but you are more or less guaranteed to receive one!

Toward the end of the festivities, Jeannie announced a new male companion coming onto the scene: a 14-year-old shelter dog! Jeannie's response to why: "An Old Girl rescuing an Old Boy" so they both can enjoy each other's company.

Well, at least until Jeannie begins the planning process for her centennial celebration! I for one (of many I believe) hope I am here for the festivities!

See you soon Jeannie.

Love, XXX and very best wishes.

John & all!
