UPATE – John Agen headed toward victory for District 2 La Conner school board director

November 15, 2023

The 534 votes counted today, Nov. 16, by Skagit County Elections Office workers did not change any candidate positions in the District 2 La Conner school board director race, nor are there changes in trends. John Agen added eight of the 18 ballots tallied for 778 votes, 52.9%. Janie Beasley's 10 votes gives her 685 and means she reduced Agen's lead by two, to 93 votes.

Elections staff estimate 200 uncounted ballots remain. Almost all would have to be from the La Conner School District and Beasley would need to win about 75% of them to edge ahead. That is unlikely. Agen is the probable winner.

The other candidates in greater La Conner were unopposed and won with the first vote count Nov. 7.

For School District 1 and 4 director positions, Alana Quintasket and Kim Pedroza each gained 16 votes In the Town of La Conner races one more vote went to Mayor-elect Marna Hanneman and Annie Taylor and Mary Wohleb for council Positions 1 and 5

Fire District 13 Commissioner John Doyle gained 18 votes for Position 2 and Jeremy J.J. Wilbur added 16 votes for Position 3.

Loren Bogart added a vote, to 84, in his election for Sewer District 1 commissioner Position 1.

Voter turnout will reach 37% with over 31,800 ballots cast by the county's 85,826 registered voters.

The next vote report is scheduled by 5 p.m. Nov. 17. The county vote must be certified Nov. 28.
