Letter to the editor: She is smitten with charming La Conner

I recently had the pleasure of visiting La Conner for an impromptu girls’ trip. This was my first time here and it was so enjoyable that I booked another visit before I left!

We came to watch our friend in the Pretty Woman polo tournament at the La Conner Polo Club. We had dinner that night at the barn with the other players and the tournament hosts – everyone was so kind and welcoming and the views were unbelievable!

That night we stayed in a corner room at the La Conner Channel Lodge. From the moment we got there the staff was warm and welcoming. The lodge is beautiful, with comfortable rooms and breathtaking views of the water. We sat on the deck with cookies and wine we got in the lobby shop. I loved the room so much I reserved it to bring my family here in October to celebrate our son Connor’s 10th birthday – Connor in La Conner!

The next morning we had breakfast outside at the Calico Cupboard. We did a cheers to a lovely girls’ trip, my Bloody Mary and eggs Benedict were perfection and so was the view of the boats passing by. We spent the rest of the day walking through the boutiques and stocked up on soaps and gifts at the handmade. la conner shop.

We weren’t quite ready to leave and the pretty patio at the Oyster and Thistle caught our eye so we grabbed a seat and a dozen fresh oysters before we headed home to Sammamish.

I highly recommend La Conner to anyone looking for a charming getaway. Thank you to everyone who made our girls’ trip so memorable! I can’t wait to be back soon and show my husband and kids this beautiful area this fall!
