Nancy Scott Juneby

Our beautiful mother, grandma, sister and friend passed away peacefully at her home in La Conner, WA on March 1, 2023 at the age of 82. She was surrounded and cared for by her family and friends.

Nancy was born to Clark and Mildred Simmons of Erie County, New York. Nancy lived most of her life in La Conner in the Skagit Valley. She was the director of the Burlington Senior Center for many years where she launched innovative programs and helped seniors find resources to meet their various needs. She enjoyed conversing with and participating in many of the activities with the seniors.

She was a trained mediator, volunteering her time with local mediation organizations. She loved gardening, playing mahjong, traveling and spending time with friends. She was an avid reader and an engaged community member.

She actively enjoyed watching her grandchildren's sporting events and even traveled to Alaska to watch them. Nancy always sent the best cards for every holiday and never forgot a birthday! She always had a big smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Emma Juneby of Skagit County and Sara Evans of Rampart, AK; brother Kendall Gosch of Glen Falls, NY; her grandchildren Dorothy Juneby of Tacoma, WA, Tullos Juneby of Louisiana and Bella Juneby of Anacortes; great-grandchildren Terrell & Mekhia, and Malik all of Fairbanks, AK; Shania (Michael) of Tacoma, WA and six great great-grandchildren.

Nancy had many friends who she loved and cherished. She will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life to honor her is planned for noon on June 25th at the La Conner Garden Club.
