Library Happenings

Spring has sprung and the tulips are blooming – well almost – but it is spring at the library!

Congratulations to Mary Cayou, our lucky Winter Reads grand prize winner. Mary received a $25 gift certificate to Seaport Books. Thank you to everyone who participated and to Beaver Tales Coffee, Stompin' Grounds Coffee and Seaport books for their support, and a big thank you to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring our gift certificates. The library has a brand-new website, make sure to check it out: laconnerswinomishlibrary.org.

Swap seeds with other local garden lovers! Bring harvested seeds from your garden or purchased heirloom seed packets to the library for a seed swap. Come meet new people, exchange gardening tips, learn what others in the area are growing, and take home something new. It is Friday, May 20, 3-4:30 p.m.

The library is looking for your input. We want to hear from you about programs and activities you would like to see. Stop by the circulation desk and fill out a brief survey to help us plan activities for all ages. We look forward to your input.

Do you need help with technology issues? The library can help. Tech nights are Mondays, 4-6 p.m. Stop by the library and sign up for a 30 minute one-on-one session with our tech expert; he can help with everything from iPhones to Kindles.

Calling all Dungeons and Dragons players! Come to the library on Tuesdays, 3-5 pm. to be a part of our Dungeons and Dragons club. Whether you are new to the game or a seasoned player, come to the library and check it out. Game materials are provided or you are welcome to bring your own.

The tooth fairy paid a visit to our Friday story time last week. She read stories, talked to the kids about proper brushing techniques and let them perfect their brushing techniques with the stuffed friends she brought with her. In case you missed her, the tooth fairy will make another stop at the library sometime this summer, so stay tuned!

Our staff had a great time when Mrs. Hedlund's first/second grade class visited the library. The class got a tour, listened to a story and spent time exploring our children's area. Thank you, Mrs. Hedlund, for sharing your wonderful class with us!

If you are ready to get your hands in the dirt this spring, we have several great new books full of gardening ideas for gardens of all sizes and if you want to compost all the weeds you pull, we have some great composting books, too!
