Soroptimists honor 5 with awards

Wednesday, March 8 was a red letter day for the Soroptimists International of La Conner. They hosted their annual awards dinner for the first time since 2019, the break in continuity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The five winners who attended the gala and accepted their awards, are Kristie Williams and Dana Marie Obey, who earned the 2023 Live Your Dream Award which is given to women, single head-of-household, to help meet education and career goals. Suzanne Marble was honored with the 2023 Ruby Award, which recognizes women who through their personal or professional activities, work locally to significantly improve the lives of those in the community. And finally, the 2023 Violet Richardson award recognized La Conner High School seniors Hadley Shears and Samantha Davidson, two young women between the ages of 14 and 18 who make their school and community a better place through their volunteer efforts.

Everyone was in festive spirits, with lots of smiles, handshakes and words of praise and gratitude.
