Make way for the new sheriff in town.

Sgt. Beau Montgomery has succeeded Sgt. Jenny Sheahan-Lee, who retired in May. His position as sergeant at the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office La Conner began June 1.

Even though his roots are in eastern Washington, working in Skagit County for the last five years has given Montgomery the opportunity to spend time in La Conner both professionally, as a patrol duty, and in his off-duty time visiting.

“La Conner is a great community,” Montgomery said, “I look forward to my time serving the people of La Conner as a Skagit County Sheriff’s Office sergeant.”

His focus will be to provide the best policing services to the community and be the liaison between the Town of La Conner and the Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery said.

Additionally, his goal for the rest of 2022 is to continue building a relationship with the La Conner School District.

“The safety of the students and school district personnel is a priority,” Montgomery said.

Montgomery has already had the pleasure of coordinating efforts with the police force across the Rainbow Bridge since starting in La Conner.

“Going forward,” he explained, “I will continue to maintain and encourage a positive working relationship with the Swinomish Police, establishing a common goal of safety and well-being of La Conner residents and visitors.”
