Construction Update

It is exciting to see the heavy machinery and work trucks coming and going every day from the construction site for the new La Conner Swinomish Library. We have encountered some challenges along the way, but we are working hard as a team to overcome them and stay on track for completion in summer 2022.

There are specific opportunities to support the La Conner Swinomish Library as we continue building. Please contact Susan Macek (206-719-0379) for more information about donations and legacy gifts.

Any donations you give this year are tax deductible and go directly to support the new library.

We look forward to the New Year with optimism and excitement and greatly appreciate your support. Happy Holidays!

LinkedIn Learning

As many of us may be thinking of resolutions and goals for the coming year, one resource the library provides which can help with both of these is inLearning.

The online resource inLearning was developed by LinkedIn and offers over 16,000 expert-led courses for professional development.

Now is a great time to improve existing skills or try something new. The La Conner Regional Library provides paid access to inLearning for library card holders. You can access study materials and courses anytime on your phone, computer or tablet. When you complete a course and successfully earn a certificate, you can add it to your resume.

Maybe it has been a while since you finished your formal studies or maybe you are looking to make a job change. Perhaps you need a refresher course for computer skills or want to become a better public speaker.

Courses for all of these subjects are available to you free of charge. Just look for the inLearning icon on our homepage (lclib.lib.wa.us) and log in with your library card. When you first log in, you will be asked to set a personal goal, (for example, 30 minutes a week) and to choose a few topics of interest to get started. You can also search by topic or author.

There are courses on a variety of many topics, including: Microsoft Excel, time management, working from home, photography and personal branding.

One of the best features of inLearning are the Learning Paths. These paths integrate coursework from across the platform with an end goal in mind. You can choose Learning Paths for topics such as learning to play the guitar or piano, becoming a bookkeeper, publishing an ebook, becoming a web designer, becoming a motion graphics artist and many more.

Check it out today! There is something for everyone!
