High school seniors on parade

Thursday La Conner High School’s seniors paraded and were feted from the time La Conner’s iconic 1941 Ford white firetruck and accompany Hook & Ladder Department vehicle fleet left the schoolgrounds parking lot to the end of the parade, bookended with another firetruck, at the Town’s Maple Hall.

Seniors waved from car moonroofs, backs of pick up trucks, trailers and, of course, convertibles. A variety of classic cars, from vintage corvettes to old mustangs, were joined by Fire District 13 fire vehicles.

Students, teachers and staff from the elementary, middle and high school came out on the Sixth Street sidewalks to wave cheer and shout good wishes.

The parade traveled from Sixth Street, up Morris Street and turned onto La Conner’s First Street business district, where students were greeted by more family, friends and the owners and staffs of businesses.

By 3:30 p.m., the entire entourage, which rolled out about 3 p.m., was back at the schools’ parking lot.

Graduation is 5 p.m. June 18 at the high school auditorium. It is a limited ticketed event.
