Your independent hometown award-winning newspaper
On Feb. 3 the day was crisp and sunny and what awaited was a COVID-19 vaccination for the educational staff of the La Conner School District. This opportunity was shared with our district because the Swinomish Senate had, by resolution, voted to share the Moderna vaccination with our staff. This generous offer is accepted as the gift it was meant to be.
Jennifer LaPointe, health administrator invited us to the parking lot on the west side of the casino. The whole event was well organized. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was very friendly and compassionate to those of us who dread a bit of a poke in the arm. The Swinomish Dental and Medical staff made sure everyone was safe and had no reaction prior to being released for the day.
The next vaccination date has been established for March 3 and I am looking forward to visiting everyone again. As a district, we are so very grateful for the Swinomish generosity and support as we bring our students back to school.
I want to thank the community for supporting our enrichment levy and all of the support from our committee members who worked tirelessly to make this a successful campaign for the La Conner School District. As your superintendent, I know that your support is based on the trust that we will use your money wisely and continue to educate our children. A special shout out to the very active group of volunteers that served on the committee:
Dave Buchan, Jerry Carr, Katie Carson, Beth Clothier, Susie Deyo, Heather Fakkema, Robert Hancock, Maureen Harlan, Kathy Herrera, Loran James, Cherri Kahns, Aaron Reinstra, Jamie Reinstra, Scott Thomas, Michael Vendiola and Andy Wheeler.
Again, thank you for your ongoing support of our students and staff of LCSD!
Sincerely,
Rich Stewart
Superintendent
La Conner School District
