Donald Moore tribute

January 17, 2018

A love affair has ended with the passing of Donald Moore. He leaves behind his beloved Jane in Sandy, UT.

Theirs was a storybook beginning: He, a pilot and officer with the RCAF – she, working for a congressman in Washington, D.C.

They met and sparks flew and they were wed, never to be apart .... and after the glam and the parties in D. C., they, at some point, settled on the Northwest for a landing spot and picked a small community called Shelter Bay.

When they arrived, they determined to work as they could to enrich all activities, available.

Don worked as Shelter Bay Manager for a time, Jane joined the chorus and they both worked on committees related to Board decisions – volunteered themselves for SBYC functions and stayed generally involved.

Don designed and built a glorious contemporary house, atop a rock, overlooking the marina and opened their home to so many fun events, as well as a meeting place for more serious endeavors.

One very pleasant group we shared was called GNATS---a monthly get-together at various locations, meaning the homes of the members. Jane and Don were always at the ready for someone unable to take their turn, and would fill the gap.

All of you who have known them will have your own stories to tell, but truth is, we have lost a personal friend and a man who truly loved Shelter Bay. He and Jane lamented to us about their decision to leave Shelter Bay and regretted it, as it was the only real home they’d enjoyed. We enjoyed you, too, dear Don and Jane.
