Breakfast with Santa Dec 2 at Maple Hall

La Conner Rotary’s own Santa, president-elect John Milnor, is once again suiting up for photos with Santa during the club’s 13th annual Santa Breakfast at Maple Hall Saturday, 8:30-11 a.m. Pet photos with Santa are new this year, with or without kids posing with the jolly old man.

A pancake breakfast will be served: $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under. There is no additional charge for photos, but donations are gladly accepted to help support the La Conner Rotary Club’s literacy initiatives. Breakfast proceeds go to the La Conner High School, whose students help with the breakfast.

Being Santa is a labor of love for Milnor, who has been doing this for 20 years, first for his kids, then for the club.

“I do it because it’s a lot fun to bring joy to the kids,” Milnor said. “It’s fun every year. I even did it years ago when I fooled my kids, at least I think I did.”

Milnor and his wife, Marge, also a La Conner Rotarian, are also dog lovers, so John is happy to bring dogs into the picture.

“It will be fun as long as the dogs are happy,” he said. “Dogs don’t have antlers, so why would my reindeer be jealous?”

Dogs will not be allowed in Maple Hall while their people are eating breakfast. They must stay in their cars until their people are ready for their pictures. Then, they can come in one or two at a time through the side door in the covered sculpture alcove on Commercial Street. Complete instructions are on the La Conner Rotary web site (www.laconnerrotary.org).

Rotary recognizes the Town of La Conner for providing this opportunity to bring all family members, including four-legged ones, in for pictures with Santa.
