Dear Editor,

The La Conner Regional Library gets by with a little help from our Friends ... actually, we get by with a lot of help from our Friends! The Friends of the La Conner Library group has given well over a million dollars over the 20 plus years they have been around. They provide money to fund children’s programming, provide new furniture, contribute funding for new and emerging technology, and help support staff training. In addition, the Friends have rallied countless times to advocate for our library needs. Most recently they have been operating the Library Thrift Store with the Kiwanis helping to raise money for a new library building.

October 15-21, 2017 is the 12th annual National Friends of Libraries Week, and it’s the perfect opportunity for the staff and trustees of the La Conner Regional Library to give our Friends a big shout out for all they do to make a difference for us every single day.

We know the Friends are always looking for new members and volunteers. They have so much fun while working to make our community better. It’s easy to join. You can pick up a form at the library (only $10 a year!) or stop in to their monthly potluck lunch held the third Monday of the month at the Garden Club, 11:30 a.m. It is a wonderful group of men and women – check them out!

Joining the Friends of the Library is a terrific way to make new friends of your own, give back to our community, and make the library even better.

We appreciate our wonderful Friends.

Sincerely,

Brad York

La Conner Board of Trustees Chair
