Wednesday Jan 4

7:57 a.m .: Alarm! – An alarm went off at a home onChannel Drive north of La Conner. The home was secure.

Thursday Jan 5

1:54 p.m .: Fraud – Somebody passed a fraudulent check at a lodging facility in La Conner. The investigation continues.

3:23 p.m .: Info – The Rotary Club of La Conner advised they’re hosting a 5K/10K run during the annual Smelt Derby next month.

9:13 p.m .: Dispute – There was a civil disagreement over the use of a laptop computer, 900 blockMaple Avenue, La Conner.

10:19 p.m .: Theft – Somebody stole cash that fell out of person’s pocket, 900 blockMaple Avenue, La Conner.

Friday Jan 6

8 a.m .: Alarm – An alarm went off at the Conway Post office. Everything was OK.

Saturday Jan 7

10:13 a.m .: Gunshots – Somebody called concerned that someone was hunting waterfowl in the fields east of La Conner. The hunters were on private land, and there was no problem.

8:29 p.m .: Boom! – There was a report of possible fireworks set off near La Conner High School. Deputy checked the area, but didn’t find any pyrotechnic activity and no more were heard.

Sunday Jan 8

7:45 a.m .: Alarm! – An alarm went off again at the Conway Post Office. The building was secure.

11:40 a.m .: Lock-out – A deputy helped a person who was locked out of their vehicle near Chilberg andDodgeValley roads.

Monday Jan 2

2:34 p.m .: Twofer arrest – After witnessing what he believed to be a hand-to-hand drug exchange between two people in a parking lot, a Swinomish Officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle after it left the lot.

He found that the driver of the vehicle he had stopped was a convicted felon on active supervision through the state Department of Corrections, whose driver’s license is suspended.

In addition, a female passenger in the vehicle was recognized, and investigation confirmed that she had several warrants for her arrest.

Based upon the suspicion of drug use, Department of Corrections personnel responded to the scene and inspected the vehicle.

Their search revealed evidence of drug possession, and the car was impounded so that a search warrant application could be completed.

The search warrant was granted and the subsequent search revealed amphetamines, heroin and illegal pills in the car.

Both subjects were booked in to jail, and charges are pending.

Wednesday Jan 4

11:08 a.m .: Caught again – A Swinomish Officer recognized a 24-year-old woman walking on 1st Street in Swinomish and recalled that she had a warrant out for her arrest for failing to appear in court. A records check showed that the woman had failed to appear in court on this charge on at least five prior occasions. She was taken into custody and transported to the Skagit County Jail for booking.

12:29 p.m .: Lockout – An Officer responded to the Swinomish Chevron onCasino Drive and unlocked a vehicle for someone who had accidentally locked their keys in the car.

Friday Jan 6

5:20 a.m .: Another twofer – A Swinomish Officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing several traffic violations.

As he spoke with the three people in the vehicle, he learned that two of the passengers were prohibited from being near one another by court order.

Specifically, the court order prohibited the male passenger, a 41-year-old Anacortes man, from being around the 42-year-old woman in the back seat of the vehicle.

The man was taken into custody for violation of a court order.

Further investigation revealed that the woman had a felony warrant for her arrest from the Department of Corrections.

She was also arrested, and both were transported to the Skagit County Jail and booked.
