Tuesday Dec 27

5:11 p.m.: Stranded – A woman staying ata La Conner hotel was upset after her husband took off and left her there. They had been in an argument and the husband left town on a boat. Deputies assisted in getting her back home toOlympia.

Wednesday Dec 28

9:15 a.m.: Dinged dinghy – A dinghy was damaged while tied to the back of a sailboat docked in La Conner Marina. Unknown cause.

Thursday Dec 29

3:18 p.m.: Happy cows – Animal control was asked to check on livestock inConway. There were no signs of abuse noted.

Friday Dec 30

7:39 a.m.: 911 hang-up – Someone dialed 911 from the pay phone near the public restrooms onFirst Street in La Conner. Deputies could not locate anyone in distress around the payphone.

8:19 a.m.: Open door – A person called to report that there was a garage door open at a residence onMaple Ave. in La Conner. Deputies stopped by and told the homeowner, who had left the door open accidentally.

12:44 p.m.: Messy dump run – There was a report of an unsecured load on a garbage truck traveling onLa Conner Whitney Road north of La Conner. A deputy contacted the waste collection service.

Monday Jan 2

5:39 a.m.: Hey! Help! – Someone was reported to be banging on his apartment walls, 900 blockMaple Ave. It turned out he was trying to summon help. The man was transported to a local hospital.

Wednesday Dec 28

10:05 a.m.: Beer burglary – Swinomish Police Officers were dispatched to a break-in that occurred in the ShelterBay storage lot. Investigation revealed that one of the stored RV’s had been entered through one of the vehicle’s locked windows. The window and screen were both damaged by the suspect, who evidently stole some beer, but not much else. The matter is under investigation.

7:01 p.m.: Fraud attempt – A 47-year-oldEverett woman was contacted by Swinomish Officers after she tried to defraud the Northern Lights Chevron during a cash transaction. An alert employee spotted the woman trying to swap a $20 bill for a $50 bill while the clerk was making change for the transaction. The woman was issued a trespass warning and escorted from the property. Officers made sure that she had a ride from the area and advised her not to return or she would be arrested for trespassing.

Thursday Dec 29

4:38 a.m.: Drug arrest – In the wee hours of the morning, a Swinomish Officer observed an occupied vehicle parked in an area on the shoulder ofMarchs Point Road where there have been past incidents of drug use and other problems.

He stopped and contacted the occupants of the vehicle and noted that they were sitting in the car smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol.

The driver of the vehicle, a 51-year-oldSitka,Alaska resident, was issued citations for failing to show proof of insurance as well as for having an open alcohol container in the vehicle.

The passenger, a 29-year-oldBurlington woman, was found to have several misdemeanor and felony warrants out for her arrest.

She was placed under arrest, searched, and then secured in a police vehicle.

While enroute to the Swinomish Police Department the woman was noted to be moving about and shifting in the rear seat of the vehicle.

Upon arrival at the Police Station it was discovered that she had managed to remove a baggie of suspected methamphetamine from inside her boot and toss it on to the floor of the car.

The officer took the suspected drugs as evidence and charges are pending.

The woman was booked into the Skagit County Jail.
