DOROTHY INEZ GARCIA

Dorothy Inez Garcia died on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the age of 90.

She made her home in LaConner. Born December 17, 1924 in Oklahoma, Inez lived an adventurous and creative life. She was an avid supporter of local artists and collector of antiques. She loved fine food and was an accomplished cook.

Inez and her husband John were a huge part of the revolution in Neuro-science and radiation awareness in the U.S. as John was a professor of neuroscience at University of California, Los Angeles and at Harvard.

Inez was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, John Garcia.

She is survived by her sister, Helen Goree of Petaluma, California; three sons: Rod Garcia of LaConner, Ben David Garcia of La Conner, John E. Garcia and his wife Dianna Acevedo of Santa Maria, California.

She also leaves her grandchildren: Anneke Beach-Garcia of Bellingham, Erin Sara DiPeso and her husband Lucian DiPeso of Oakland, California; Maya Garcia of Berkeley, California; Diego Garcia of Santa Maria, California and Harlan Caufield of New York.

A memorial will be held at the La Conner Civic Garden Club on Sunday, April 12 from 2 to 5 p.m.
