La Conner elementary students Danny Rapada and Matthew Stone were the winners of two bikes donated by the Garfield Masonic Lodge of La Conner. Each year, the Garfield Masons donate bikes as prizes for kids whose names are drawn from those who read enough to qualify for the drawing. More bike riding is in the future of La Conner kids: Next year’s fifth grade students will have safe bicycle riding lessons, with help from a grant the district received to help pay for 30 bikes, 30 helmets and teacher training.
