8:57 a.m .: School trouble – A student arrived at La Conner Middle School under the influence of marijuana.

2:02 p.m .: Fraud – Somebody has been loading up their Starbuck’s card using the credit card of a La Conner area resident without permission.

Wednesday May 21

4:59 p.m .: Big load – A oversize load with proper signage was traveling onDike Road onFirIsland and someone reported that it was being driven “recklessly.” There was no explanation as to what was reckless about it.

7:07 p.m .: Alarm – An alarm went off over an open door at a business onPearle Jensen Way, but nobody was located on the premises.

Thursday May 22

1:15 p.m .: Abandoned trailer – Someone called wanting to take possession of an abandoned trailer onChilberg Road near La Conner. Deputies were unable to locate the trailer, and the caller did not respond to a phone message left by the deputy.

Friday May 23

5:25 p.m .: Dents & dings – A student’s car was damaged parked at La Conner High School and the registered owner’s insurance company wanted it reported to get a case number.

Saturday May 24

10:18 a.m .: Suspicious – A former employee had been on the premises of a lodging establishment in La Conner, possibly portraying themselves as a current employee.

11:50 a.m .: Sneaky reader – A person inConway believes that an acquaintance is occasionally stealing his newspaper.

Sunday May 25

12:41 p.m .: Don’t believe it! – A woman has gone into a couple of businesses in La Conner claiming that she was not given the correct change after paying with a $100 bill. She demands $20 and authorities say it is likely that if she really didn’t receive the correct change the first time, it stands to reason she’d be more careful when she uses the rest of her $100 bills. Therefore, it’s a scam, and La Conner merchants are onto it. Anyone who can help identify the perpetrator is asked to contact the La Conner deputies.
