MARGIE E. MADSEN

1916-2013

Longtime La Conner resident Margie E. Madsen died on Saturday, December 28.

Margie was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin on May 19, 1916, the daughter of George L. and Daisey Davis Bauer. She was educated there and later moved to South Dakota.

She was united in marriage to James O. Madsen January 11, 1936 in Hot Springs, South Dakota. The couple lived there until 1966, when they came to Washington, settling in La Conner, where she had resided since.

Margie enjoyed homemaking, gardening and traveling. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Anacortes. She was a caring, loving person, who will be greatly missed by her family and many friends!

Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, James and Karen Madsen; her grandchildren Debbie Kizner (David) and Michael Madsen (Anne); her great-grandchildren Zachary, Alex and Jenna Madsen, all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her husband, known as Oliver, preceded her in death in 1990. Her parents and her daughter Irene Madsen also preceded her in death.

Cremation has been held at the Mount Vernon Crematory under the direction of the Kern Funeral Home of Mount Vernon. Inurnment will be at a later date in Hot Springs, South Dakota on the family plot.

A memorial service will be held at the La Conner Methodist Church on Sunday, January 12 at 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
