Sunday Dec 29

8:47 p.m.: Medical aid – A man fell at a residence onMorris Ave in La Conner.

Monday Dec 30

5:31 p.m.: Road kill – Deputies removed a dead dear from the roadway onBest Road near Rexville.

Tuesday Dec 31

12:50 p.m.: Big ticket item – A deputy stopped a driver near Morris and Third streets in La Conner because the vehicle’s tags were expired and discovered that the driver was also operating the vehicle on a suspended license.

4:33 p.m.: Bogus billing – A La Conner resident was looking over their bank statement and found a direct withdrawal for $29.95 had been made by Fame Help, a billing company out of Holland. The resident had no idea how their account information had been obtained and called the bank immediately. Deputies say people should reconcile their bank account records regularly and make sure the charges showing are for items actually purchased.

Wednesday Jan 1

3:36 a.m.: Ringing in 2014 – The alarm went off at Pioneer Market in La Conner. Deputies found everything secure.

12:21 p.m.: Bad driving – Deputies couldn’t find a brown Ford F250 pickup that was reported to be driving erratically onBest Road near Rexville Grocery.

7:17 p.m.: How odd – Someone in La Conner reported that they’d been getting a strange text message asking for a ride since Dec. 12. They were not familiar with the number and tried to call to see who it was. The number was answered, but there was not verbal communication, so they called the Sheriff’s office.

Thursday Jan 2

12:04 a.m.: Weird – Around midnight strange noises were heard coming from inside a North First Street La Conner business closed at that hour. Deputies were unable to locate the source of the sound.

1:22 p.m.: Bad parking – A vehicle was parked in a crosswalk on North 6th Street near La Conner Elementary School. The driver was located and did not realize they were in a crosswalk, since there was no intersection.

2:55 p.m.: Boundary issues – A person onDodge Valley Road east of La Conner reported that someone was trespassing on his property. Deputies found the alleged “trespasser” was someone working on a neighboring residence and who claimed they had not been on the other property.

8:18 p.m.: Got ’em – Deputies arrested a person on South 4th Street in La Conner because he had two outstanding arrest warrants for violating a court order – one of the warrants was for 20 counts of the violation. He was booked into Skagit County Jail

Friday Jan 3

7:53 a.m.: Wires down – Non electrical wires – phone or cable – were down near the La Conner School District office.

10:23 p.m.: Boat break in – A boat owner at La Conner Marina discovered that someone had been aboard his vessel, but took nothing. Deputies believe the entry was made several days earlier when a television was taken off another boat.

1:04 p.m.: Raising a ruckus – A man with “issues” sparked a lot of law enforcement activity around town over a two-day period Friday and Saturday reporting several crimes that never happened. One of the reports was that a 13-year-old had shot someone. While deputies were trying to locate the fake shooting, they received other reports that lead them to locate the “missing” reporting party. There was no shooting, and no other crimes or victims. Turned out the trouble maker had two outstanding warrants from the Skagit County District Court, so he went to jail on Saturday.

10 p.m.: Big ticket – A driver was stopped near the La Conner roundabout for driving in the dark with no tail lights. Turned out he was also driving with a suspended license.

Saturday Jan 4

1:28 p.m.: Shooting – Someone reported shooting in the area ofChannel Drive north of La Conner. The shooters were contacted and were not violating any laws.

3:50 p.m.: Skaters – A business owner and deputies told some skateboarders to quit using La Conner’s Gilkey Square for a skateboard park. The town does not allow skateboards in any of its parks except the La Conner Skateboard Park on North 6th Street.
