La Conner High School senior Hallie Walls has been selected as the Soroptimist International of La Conner Honored Student for the month of April. It's easy to see why when you look at all the activities she is involved in.

Most recently Walls narrated the school play. She enjoys drama and participated in the play her freshman year. She just finished up her fourth year on the Knowledge Bowl team, this year as co-captain. Walls has played golf on the school team since her sophomore year. It is a fun spring sport that she looks forward to.

The Varsity in Volunteerism club at the high school is another of her interests. The club meets during lunch hour to discuss and plan for volunteer opportunities. Their most recent effort was a blood drive hosted jointly with Key Club, of which Walls is also a member. She has qualified for a varsity letter in volunteerism each year of her four years in high school. Last summer her volunteering led her to work at the local food bank. And this year she is planning to place flags on the graves of Veterans in honor of Memorial Day.

Walls' favorite subject in school is history. As an online student of the Running Start program at Skagit Valley College, she has taken as many history credits as possible.

When Walls isn't busy with school activities, she enjoys playing computer games. She also worked last summer at Hedlin Family Farms as a cashier and stocker and plans to do the same this summer. A four-year college experience is in Walls' plans. She doesn't know what her major will be at this point.

Her proud parents are Toby and Sarah Walls. She also has a brother, Sylas, who is in sixth grade.

In recognition for all her pursuits, Walls will receive a gift certificate to Vintage La Conner, the thrift store operated by volunteers to support local women and girls and enabled by generous donations from the community.
