STEVE SCHUH LOVES A PARADE – On July Fourth, farmer Steve Schuh pulls his tractor through the streets of La Conner instead of the fields of his Memorial Highway farm. That day, he harvested smiles and waves.

At the July Fourth parade, the townsfolk of La Conner greeted a tractor driven by Farmer Steve of Schuh Farms towing his trailer of loved ones down First Street during the annual celebration of America's independence. Seeing Schuh smiling to the crowd and the excitement of the event was a display of a heartwarming show of community.

Among the locally owned businesses in the vibrant Skagit Valley, Schuh Farms stands as a familiar face in local events. Established in 1963 by the Skagit-based Schuh family, the farm is operated by Steve Schuh and his daughter Jen Schuh. While they specialize in fresh produce, fruit and pumpkins, their impact on the community goes beyond their agricultural offerings. Affectionately known as "Farmer Steve," Schuh has been a notable participant in the annual La Conner Independence Day parade for decades. According to his son Andy, "He has so much fun seeing the people waving and having a good time. (This) is one of his favorites."

This community-driven philosophy is present at their farm stand, as evidenced by the autumn hayrides and tractor rides they offer. The family actively contribute to the Skagit community by creating opportunities to educate people about the origins of the food we consume through agritourism.

Community events act as a unifying force, connecting people together and the involvement of family-owned businesses like Schuh Farms in events such as the La Conner Fourth of July parade plays a vital role in nurturing a welcoming and connected community.
