December 1, 2021

News scoop: Santa’s advance schedule of early La Conner visits has been leaked to the Weekly News. Parents, are these times on your calendar?

Saturday morning Santa will be posing for photos at Maple Hall when the La Conner Rotary holds its annual Santa Breakfast, 8:30–11 a.m. Dec. 4.This is a dog friendly photo-op. Breakfast is $7 and $3 for children 10 and under.

There is no charge for photos, but donations will help support the La Conner Rotary Club’s literacy initiatives.

Take time to shop at the craft fair organized by La Conner United, all the service clubs working together, in the bar/entrance area and upstairs at Maple Hall. Hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m..

Fill your afternoon with visits to La Conner’s museums. The Museum of Northwest Art’s luminary globe workshop is full, but view the gallery exhibits and stop at the MoNA store. You get a surprise gift with every purchase and can enter to win a door prize. A classical guitarist will be playing all day.

The Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum’s holiday open house is 11 a.m.-5 p.m. The entire family can participate in a “Make & Take” activity for $5. Enjoy their beautiful Nordic-themed decorations, hot cider and more. Admission is free.

Go up the hill to the Skagit County Historical Museum for its exhibit, Hugo Helmer: Skagit’s Own Music Man and the museum’s permanent exhibits. Hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

After a much needed hot chocolate and cookie break, and the time needed to feed his reindeer, Santa returns to Gilkey Square at 5:30 p.m.The La Conner Chamber of Commerce has negotiated Santa’s assistance.

In years past DJ Heidi spun tunes starting around 5 p.m. and hot chocolate was available. No confirmations were made of these possibilities at press time.

All day every day you can take selfie photos at the gazebo along the boardwalk in front of holiday banners placed by the La Conner Rotary Club. Pose with a cheery background for your annual holiday photo.

CORRECTION: There is not a lighted boat parade Dec. 4. The print edition incorrectly stated a boat parade. The boat parade is 6 p.m. Dec. 11.
