March 5 is La Conner’s next First on First Friday. For your family pleasure head to Gilkey Square and “Chalk It Up.” Bring your springtime inspiration and unleash your creativity on a six foot by six foot square using a bucket of chalk. Whether with the kids or as adults, singularly or in groups, this afternoon is for you. There are prizes for best child and best adult squares.

You must plan this, first by reserving your time, between 1-7 p.m. Second it is $15 for the chalk bucket and space. Call John Leaver, 360-296-6414 for your time slot and square.

The Weekly News is donating four buckets and squares to teachers and students of the La Conner School District to seed the day. Call Leaver to sponsor a square.

“La Conner’s open for business” is the theme of these First Fridays, to bring area residents into town to enjoy strolling the streets, shopping and eating out. Now, you can dine inside, as restaurants follow Phase 2 guidelines of the Healthy Washington – Roadmap to Recovery Plan.

Gather at safe distances from one another and buy from vendors on Gilkey Square. Buskers will be strumming and singing. Bring your bills to toss in their guitar cases.

Brought to you by the First on First committee. Promoted by the Weekly News.
