Summer Reading is here!

Oceans of Fun! Sign-ups are available at the library. We have a summer reading tracking sheet in extra large treasure map format. It includes all of our program information, summer reading book suggestions and details of activities on the following days:

Construction update

The new La Conner Swinomish Library at 520 Morris Street is moving steadily toward completion! Tiger Construction continues to do outstanding work and run a very clean site. The remaining windows will be arriving at the end of June. The wood forms, flags and stakes are disappearing as the cement pours continue all around the building.

Take a look at the stairs at the north entrance and notice the public bench which has been incorporated into the structure. Lighting is being installed along the surrounding walkways and the south parking area will soon be visible. The hand railing for the cement ramp along the length of the building leading to the south entrance has arrived. A full solar array is currently being installed on the roof and the supporting electrical infrastructure is also underway.

New building move-in

The Library expects our move from the existing building into the new La Conner Swinomish Library will begin in late July. We will announce a closure date sometime in July along with available times to participate in moving books to the new location.

The library will be closed for the month of August while work on the interior is completed. There are many things which need to be installed and transitioned from the old library to the new library, including all new improved technology to run our systems, services, digital platforms and internet.

We hope to open the new La Conner Swinomish Library in September. For all of our summer reading program participants – we will continue to reward all participation when we reopen! We will keep you posted – there is a great deal to look forward to!
