Sarah Cook delivered countless highlights while helping La Conner High School to a 23-2 mark and fourth place finish at the 2022 Girls’ 2B Hardwood Classic in Spokane.

Since then, the senior has received many post-season honors.

The latest is her inclusion on a popular sports website’s list of the 15 must-see shooting guards in Washington high school girls’ basketball.

Cook was chosen along with Ellensburg’s Dylan Philip, Lynden Christian’s Libby Stump and other standouts from programs across all enrollment classifications in the state.

“The hoop seems bigger for these natural scorers,” SBLive Washington’s Todd Milles said of Cook and the other selections, who were chosen based on input from coaches and various media outlets.

“They can fill up a stat line in a hurry,” Milles added.

Cook scored more than 17 points per game clip last season, including a 25-point state tournament outing against Lake Roosevelt in a 69-61 La Conner victory at the Spokane Arena.

An SBLive All-State selection, Cook emerged as La Conner’s go-to scorer, “especially in clutch moments,” Milles said, as the Lady Braves navigated a tough schedule.

Milles said Cook and her La Conner teammates enjoyed a remarkable season with their ability to consistently defeat big school opponents.

Head coach Scott Novak’s charges in 2021-22 beat teams from the 1A-4A ranks, went undefeated in NW2B/1B action and swept a two-game regular season series with state 1B title winner Mount Vernon Christian.

Cook, also a key member of the 2021 state champion La Conner High School volleyball team, plans to play both sports at nearby Skagit Valley College next school year.

Prior to her most recent SBLive recognition, she garnered a host of hoops awards, among them All-State, League Most Valuable Player and Skagit Valley Herald Girls’ Player of the Year recognition.
