PRAYERS FOR PEACE WHILE WAR RAGES – What can Americans do to help support Ukrainians assaulted by Russian military? They can pray for peace and send money for relief. Some 35 greater La Conner residents gathered at La Conner’s Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a 30 minute prayer for peace service led by Fr. Tom McMichael Friday evening, March 11. Richard Doerflinger was cantor and Terry Bennett accompanied on piano. It was a scene all too familiar to those who have come together across the decades, praying for peace as the United States sent soldiers to Vietnam, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Grenada, Lebanon, Kuwait, Iraq Afghanistan and Syria. – Photo by Ken Stern
